The Reliance hybird electric heat pump water heater utilizes heat from ambient air and converts this heat with HVAC compressor technologies. Installation is similar to standard electric water heater. Hot and cold 3/4" NPT connections on side of tank. Unit equipped with standard electric heating elements and allows 4 operating modes: Efficiency, hybird, electric, or vacation. Hybird mode utilizes the heat pump or heating elements based on demand. The heat pump system sets on top of storage tank for easy cleaning. Compressor heats refrigerant inside copper coils thereby heating water from outside the storage tank. Requires minimum of 750 cu. ft. free air space for air circulation. A condensation pump (not included) is also required if a suitable drain is not available. Features include a nonsacrificial powered-anode to prohibit tank failure, dry fired element protection, user friendly digital controls, precise temperature set point, status, operational information, and self-diagnosis capability. 4500W upper element, 2000 W. lower element, 240V, electrical connection is standard 30A breaker.
